To find out answer to this question we shall have to first know about who built that great country and how, and who is destroying it. Three types of people built America and they are pioneers, inventors/scientists and entrepreneurs. Who is destroying it; they are gamblers, speculators, bogus economists and politicians.
How all this damage began? We will have to study to find solution to the problem of present America.
Renaissance of modern America is attributed to the great recession of 1930. That recession was primarily owing to big business as they refused to accept responsibility for the development and preferred to keep indulging in speculative activities in the stock market. Large funds were shifted to gambling instead of manufacturing activities to become quick rich through speculation and gambling. While ordinary Americans were suffering from the economic depression, rich people were stacking their ill-gotten wealth in foreign countries. At that time inventors, pioneers and scientists, who were from ordinary Americans, came with novel inventions, began small enterprises, and built the modern America. As those small industries grew big they needed additional funds and that was raised through the stock market. Here the rich speculators came in the picture. They provided funds but in exchange they conveniently took over the management of those industries from the original entrepreneurs. The industries grew more creating more employment and ordinary people got good jobs. America became a rich country so much so that in 1947 all world, accepted Dollar as the international currency. This development encouraged the big businesses who were not original entrepreneurs. Slowly but surely, these people realized that to produce products in America is comparatively more costly than in other countries and they began to shift their manufacturing activities to other countries such as Korea, Japan, China and many more Asian countries. This became possible since Dollar was then common currency at international level. They benefited but in return ordinary Americans gradually lost their jobs. In those days these big businesses were owned through stocks and shares by American investors who were generally ordinary people. As these businesses made more profits because manufacturing costs were greatly reduced; and so that move of big business to shift manufacturing out side of the country was highly appreciated by even ordinary people who were shareholders. They were getting good return on their investment in the shares of those corporations. Bad side effect was reduction in job opportunity in America that effect of this policy of shifting manufacturing activity out side was grossly neglected and that trend continued. This trend of shifting manufacturing activity outside America was the root behind present predicament of that country.
Big business now became what we today call multi national corporations or MNCs. In the meantime pioneers, scientists were busy developing new inventions under finance from these MNCs. As they became multinational, the shares of those corporations were made available in foreign markets and the result of that (wrong) move was evident after some time. Gradually highly priced stocks were being, sold to outside America and as a result, gradually the ownership also shifted to outside America. Now profits were benefiting outsiders and the Americans were left with only the side effect, which is, loss of jobs to ordinary people. Today we see the seriousness of this in America. All this happened so gradually that nobody seems to have noticed the deterioration in the country’s economic health.
Concept of Capitalism verses Enterprise
In the meantime some other thing developed in the world, I am referring to rise of socialism and communism. Nationalization of all industrial activity was the main policy of those people who dishonestly claimed to be practicing communism but in fact they were practicing true capitalism. Here in America big business was worried of the trend, which was spreading all over the world, they feared that if the trend comes in America their interests shall be jeopardized. They with the help of media and journalists began to claim that the country is Capitalist and forced the ordinary people of the country to accept that claim; in fact America was and is an enterprising country and not capitalist. Unfortunately nobody bothered to correct that and every body began to accept America as protector of Capitalism. I say, if this blunder was not done, many wrongs those happened to this great country of entrepreneurs could have been avoided. This was happening because an array of damn fool thinkers was encouraging the concept of Capitalism for the benefit of American MNCs. Capitalism is, connected with ensuing tendency of exploitation of labor but; as every body knows, in America it was never the case. That is why I insist that declaring America a Capitalist country was a big blunder. I am tempted to complain against the people of America since, they were rather careless about this topic; had they been more alert this blunder could have been avoided.
Many enterprising people such as Steve Jobs and Bill gates are mistaken as Capitalists but in fact, they are enterprisers similarly Warren buffet is an investor but often mistaken as a Capitalist. Capitalistare Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. Therefore, we should be careful in deciding the Capitalists from investors and Enterprisers.
American scientists were continuously developing new inventions and each of them was, patented in America. After that, the patents were, given to MNCs for commercial exploitation and at that; they took away those inventions to their countries of manufacture outside America. This trend continues to this day.
Globalization
Amongst many blunders, American politicians and economists did, one is encouraging Globalization. That was the last straw to break American monopoly in the world market and through this America was converted to a mere customer of other countries where MNCs were manufacturing the products under American patents and licenses. Loosing many jobs and against that America was getting meager return in the form of royalties on those patents and licenses.
As I have already said American governments for last half a century are doing everything for the benefit of American registered MNCs. Globalization was very convenient for them but not for American people. Nevertheless, things were lost under stupid propaganda that it helps American shareholders of these MNCs. While the truth was such that slowly, those holdings were reducing. This nobody bothered to note. Throughout last fifty years, all those governments took decisions of short-term benefits. Other world propagated ideas of “world as a village” and all those stupid concepts and foolish enough, Americans were accepting all that. We see the end outcome of all that today. American ego inflated beyond acceptable limits that added to the problem as they thought that nothing could go wrong for their country. They forgot that America is no exception for nature’s laws.
There is other view of some observers that USA is at present dependent on arms business and so all attempts are at keeping war atmosphere around the world. One more observation shows that it has involved in petroleum industry so much that those MNCs are not allowing any attempt to find suitable alternative fuel to replace petrol and diesel. Even though, methanol has already proved to be the most suitable and also renewable fuel to replace existing fuels in racecar business. These two points need consideration while trying to evolve solution for the problem. If American people insist that they need methanol based automobiles it shall be an answer to terrorist problem from Arabs. This I say because, the petrol money has made this formidable problem an all time headache for America and other civilized world. We shall discuss these two points at some other time. We shall see how the petrol lobby creates difficulties in finding a true alternative to petrol in my other posting. Recent investigation clearly showed that petrol is the prime culprit after many economic hassles.
After having studied the problem in my way; I wish to suggest remedies to come out of the present predicament.
My solution to American problem
First step:
Patents being the key to all industrial activities, the government should not allow any company to take it out side of America for commercial exploitation. The new rule shall prohibit that and insist that the inventions shall be exploited in the country. This shall exclude all previously gone inventions and those which are outdated. With this compulsion great deal of employment will be created. Not only it will trigger employment but it shall save valuable foreign exchange of the country which is now going out to purchase products based on inventions of America from other countries. Those other countries that are benefiting from American inventions will have to satisfy with outdated and older versions of the inventions and keep manufacturing them. They shall have to satisfy as suppliers of repair kits and cease to be suppliers of the original equipment. All NASA inventions banned for sell outside America for commercial exploitation.
I know MNCs with their lobbies with Senators of all parties will resist this rule. The government shall have to be adamant in the enforcement of this rule. I know all Senators and bureaucrats are sold to these MNCs and the execution of such a revolutionary act will have to pass through great many difficulties however if achieved, the true rebuilding of the new America will be possible.
I am of the opinion that present leadership of most of the American MNCs belongs to foreigners and that is the main hurdle.
Second step:
To revert the present situation; sell, of new companies, set up by inventors, to MNCs will not be allowed or shifting of manufacturing of those inventions outside shall not be allowed.
Third step:
Compel MNCs to employ American nationals by some 30 percent in all their establishments anywhere in the world if they are exploiting American patents, old and new. This employment will be at all levels and not restricted to executive levels only.
This will definitely help overcome present problem and to achieve all these things Americans should stop considering them as Capitalists and insist to claim that their nation is of Enterprising People. Present to the world for that purpose a true image of this great nation through that. This is important because the true Capitalists are the Communists and Socialists, this I say after studying the way they have destroyed their nations. The American MNCs, Wall Street Greeks, Gamblers at derivatives and speculative markets who never contribute for the real growth but in stead, indulge in parasitic economic activities are Capitalists.
I hope some ear given to my effort to salvage this great nation of great inventors, pioneers and enterpriser. You may be wondering why, on earth a person from India is bothered for Americans. There is reason for that, if America dies the great tradition of innovativeness, pioneering shall die with it, and that we as a mankind cannot afford to happen. I shall insist to remind my readers that America stands for not only that nation, but also more than that, it stands for the innovativeness, pioneering and enterprising.
When I think of MNCs, it reminds me of a story in Hindu mythology of a demon who continued to suckle his mother even after he grew big and as a result his mother dies. American MNCs are like that demon, overgrown but still continue to suckle America. At America not one but several demons of MNCs are feeding. Time has come to separate them from America and given a special status as “virtual nations” since, most of them are now as big as any small nation. Presently, I am working on my concept of VIRTUAL NATIONS and shall present my concept in more details soon on this blog. Keep on touch if interested.
In addition to all these points, there are other important issues those caused America to suffer this situation; I shall discuss them later. Before I conclude this brief article, I wish to tell all my American brothers and sisters that American MNCs are behind present problems of the country and beware of them. All your Senators of last fifty years and of today have been purchased by them; and most importantly, remember that their interests are conflicting with the interests of ordinary Americans.
Save America, to save innovativeness and pioneering…
This should be the watchword for all intelligent people of the world.
